Grimace Federation

Whether Grimace Federation show up as a trio, quintet, sextet or a ten piece post-rock orchestra, they consistently rain down a sonic assault on their audience that leaves even your pickiest hipsters nodding their heads with approval (or at least grunting apathetically that they didn’t hate them). Explosive live shows and sophisticated recordings reveal subtle layers of rhythm, telepathic interplay, cinematic texture, inventive chord structures and intriguing samples. Lots of percussion instruments, prominent vibraphones, hypnotic yet modulating melodies and swirling rhythms have earned them repeated references to post-jazz legends Tortoise but with moments of a harder rock edge. Eclectic influences range from the classic (Frank Zappa, Can and Kraftwerk) to the contemporary (Madlib, Tool, and Aphex Twin), to form an entirely new sound.
